Nathan Hale is the correct answer.

“I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country,” were Nathan Hale’s famous alleged last words
prior to his execution on September 22, 1776. Hale was a Continental Army Captain who volunteered to go behind
enemy lines in New York City to report on British troop movements but he was captured after being tricked by loyalists
in a tavern and found to be carrying hidden military documents. Although no contemporary likeness of Nathan Hale
exists, there are several statues of him like this one from Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut.
